The Worthan Theater Center is a 437,000-square-foot facility that opened in 1987. At the time it was the first major opera house built in the U.S. in more than 25 years.
The Wortham Center is home to the Houston Ballet and the Houston Grand Opera. Besides its role as a performing arts venue, the Center also hosts social galas, civic meetings, corporate and group events and weddings.
Eugene Aubry of Morris Aubry Architects designed Wortham Center. The center's architectural design has been lauded as a cutting edge study in form and function, one that certainly befits the performing arts companies that call the Wortham Center home.
The Center is home to two theaters: The 2,500-seat Alice and George Brown Theater and the 1,100-seat Roy and Lillie Cullen Theater.
