Theatre Southwest is a well-respected group that enjoys a positive reputation as a company that delivers high-quality performances that attracts talented artists from Houston and the surrounding areas.

The group began in 1957 and was founded by Marie and Les Pearsall, who shared a love of theater and a passion for bringing new and talented voices to the stage.

Originally founded under the name Bellaire Theatre Guild, the group staged its first performance at the Bellaire Community House. As word spread, the theater became more and more popular, requiring a change of venue to house its ever-growing audience.

Today, the theater has its own performance space in southwest Houston.

Naturally, the number of performances has increased to keep up with audience demand. The Theatre Southwest has grown from a three-play season to six performances, a Festival of Originals and monthly workshops.

As the theater continues to evolve and grow, it looks to lead Houston into a new era of breathtaking performances and live entertainment.
