As one of the largest malls in Houston, Baybrook Mall opened in 1978 and has grown and expanded since then.

Northline Commons Northline Commons has transformed itself from a cluster of strip malls into a destination retail center, with new landscaping, brick-paved walkways and a brightly lit parking lot. All of these new features and more have created a lifestyle outdoor retail center where shoppers can stop by to run a quick errand or to enjoy the outdoor weather while window shopping among the mall's dozens of storefronts.

Originally, the Northline Shopping Center was one of Houston's first shopping malls. It became one of the first malls in the 1980s to promote a walking club. In the 1990s, the mall introduced the concept of a satellite community college campus in partnership with Houston Community College. It later expanded to include the Magic Johnson theater and a Foot Locker store, which quickly became one of the company's highest-grossing stores in the nation.

Then in 2007, Northline Mall changed its name to Northline Commons, ushering in a new era of urban design in an outdoor shopping setting. West Oaks Mall West Oaks Mall opened in 1984, serving the shopping needs of the surrounding neighborhoods of West Houston.
