The Houston Aeros provide plenty of on-ice excitement for hockey fans in Houston. The team took the town by storm in 1995 for their inaugural season, when they made it to the playoffs in the International Hockey League.

The Aeros are named after the original hockey league franchise that played in Houston from 1972 to 1978, winning back-to-back world championships.

The Aeros have proven themselves as tough opponents on the ice, coming close to making the playoffs again early in the team's history. They won the IHL Turner Cup in 1999, and have had more wins than losses consistently every season.

The Aeros reached the playoffs in 2009 for the 13th time in the team's history. The team plays at the Toyota Center.
