The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts first opened its doors in 2002. The facility is located in downtown Houston on the edge of the Houston Theater District.

The Hobby Center is a local landmark that leaves an indelible impression on first-time visitors, with its 60-foot high glass walls and views of downtown Houston, Tranquility Park and Houston City Hall.

The center is home to two diverse theaters that accommodate a variety of performances.

The first is Sarofim Hall, a 2,650-seat theater that accommodates full-scale Broadway productions. The classically designed theater is a study in opulence and finery, with its gilded latticework and columns, highlighted by dark and tranquil midnight-blue walls. Twinkling fiber optic stars that replicate the Texas night sky contribute to its other-worldly ambiance.

The other theater is the Zilkha Hall theater, a 500-seat venue and home to the Uniquely Houston program. The series fosters growth for small and mid-sized performing arts companies in the Houston area.
