The A.D. Players is a Christian-based Houston theater arts company that incorporates Christian messages into their live performances. The A.D. Players theater is located near the Galleria shopping center in downtown Houston.
The site includes a mainstage theater that seats 350, a children's theater, costume shop, rehearsal hall, and an arts academy.
The A.D. Players were founded in 1967 and started with a group of part-time actors. Soon they started a touring company that began staging international performances. Audiences embraced the new style of theater that educates, enlightens and lets the audience understand the creative process. From a religious standpoint, the performances also include a Christian message folded seamlessly into the productions.
The A.D. Players are now one of Houston's largest resident theaters. And they have become renown both nationally and internationally. In 1997, the A.D. Players performed off-Broadway for the first time with their production of "John His Story" at Lamb's Theater in New York.
